The Kansas City Royals and Baltimore Orioles play on Saturday night as one of the national telecasts. The Orioles won the series opener on Friday, 3-0. I am looking for a bounce-back effort from the Royals on Saturday to even the series. The Orioles have been wildly inconsistent this season. Their pitching staff is among the worst in baseball, and they are supposed to be carried by their young lineup, but that hasn’t happened most days either. The Royals, of course, are one of the lowest-scoring offenses in baseball so far, and they are being carried by pitching and defense. On the mound are Kris Bubic and Tomoyuki Sugano. These pitchers appeared in an earlier series between these teams, and both guys were effective. I expect similar results tonight. The edge in this game could be the bullpen, where KC has a good and effective pen, while the Orioles are a bit of a mess. I am looking for enough of a rebound from Bobby Witt Jr and the rest, plus some bullpen struggles for the Birds, at least enough for the Royals to win the game.
