Royals vs Twins Pickswise Expert Predictions
The afternoon slate takes us to a crowded AL Central for a battle between the Kansas City Royals and Minnesota Twins. The Twins took the Friday meeting, 3-1. The Twins have calmed down a bit after their 13-game winning streak at the beginning of the month. Meanwhile, the Royals have been dealing with a decimated rotation, and have essentially been treading water the last couple of weeks. I think Saturday is a spot that lines up nicely for the Royals, especially if they can get off to a quick start.
Michael Wacha takes the mound for the visiting Royals. Wacha has been solid all season, and his 2.86 ERA reminds us that he hasn’t had a bad start all season. The Twins are still missing Buxton to concussion protocol, and it was Buxton’s hot hitting that largely drove the winning streak. Therefore, I very much like Wacha in this spot. On the other side is Zebby Matthews. Matthews is a top prospect who has thus far been unable to make the jump to the bigs. He made his season debut last week, and he was knocked around much like he was last season when called up. The Royals aren’t exactly swinging hot bats right now, but there is something about Matthews that just isn’t translating yet to the highest level, and I think the Royals win this game behind that sizeable pitching advantage. Even better that we are getting plus money. Give me the Royals on the money line.
