Kansas City Royals vs Texas Rangers Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 06/17/25

The Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers tip off a series on Tuesday from Arlington. These teams are riding momentum in very different directions as this series begins. The Royals have fallen on hard times. They were swept by the Athletics over the weekend, and they barely scored. They were swept by the Yankees before that, and they barely scored. They even dropped 2 of 3 to the White Sox, and again, they barely scored. Meanwhile, the Rangers have finally discovered some offense after months of poor hitting, and that has led them to winning 4 in a row and 7 of their last 8. This one is a simple momentum pick for me with two streaking teams, and I am taking the much hotter Rangers to win.

Seth Lugo is on the mound for the Royals. He looks very vulnerable to me. He rarely strikes anyone out, and his hard hit rate and other metrics are starting to climb. I am selling on Lugo these days. He will face Jack Leiter. Leiter has a high ceiling, if he would just stop walking people. Not surprisingly, the offensively-challenged Royals don’t take many walks, so this game plays to Leiter’s strengths. When you recognize that KC has now slid down to the 2^nd-lowest scoring team in the league, I can’t get on board with them right now. Give me the Rangers and their hot offense.
