Los Angeles Angels vs Kansas City Royals Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 09/02/25
Angels vs Royals Pickswise Expert Predictions
The Los Angeles Angels and Kansas City Royals open a series on Tuesday night. The Angels finished a tough 4-game series with the Astros on Monday, a series they split with the division frontrunner. The Angels lost Taylor Ward to a collision with the scoreboard, and they struggled to score most of the weekend. The Royals had Monday off as they get ready to try to make a desperate playoff push as a dark horse over the final few weeks. On Tuesday, the Angels send a rookie pitcher to the mound, and I never really like backing the unknown. I will take the Royals to win, but given the freight you have to pay, it is definitely not my favorite play on the board.
The Angels will call up rookie Mitch Farris to make his debut on Tuesday. Farris is a 14th round draft pick who has never pitched above Double A. He has huge strikeout stuff though, and that has the Angels intrigued to find out what they have here. The Royals, of course, have the second-lowest strikeout rate in the league this season, so it is hard to say what to expect from a strikeout arm facing a contact team in a debut situation. Add to that that Farris will be followed by one of the worst bullpens in baseball, and that the Angels are missing one of their key offensive pieces, and I suspect the Royals should have the advantage. As long as Michael Lorenzen doesn’t have a total meltdown, this should go the way of the Royals.
Angels vs Royals prediction: Royals ML (-160) available at time of publishing. Playable at that number.
