Los Angeles Dodgers vs San Diego Padres Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 08/22/25

The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres lock horns again this weekend, this time in San Diego. The Padres are cruising against most teams these days, except for big brother to the north. Last weekend, the Padres headed to LA as the hottest team in the NL, and with a half game lead in the division. They left licking their wounds, swept by the Dodgers, and once again chasing in the standings. Something about this matchup just won’t let the Padres get over the hump, and until they prove they can consistently beat the Dodgers, I’m not buying the Padres. Give me the Dodgers to win again on Friday.

We get Blake Snell and Yu Darvish on Friday night. I don’t love trusting Snell, as he is still working back from injury, and there is a high chance of unpredictability. But he did just shut down the Padres last weekend, holding them scoreless over 6 innings. Darvish, on the other hand, just got smoked by LA last weekend, giving up a couple of homers in a 4-inning outing. And at age 39, I’m probably never going to be in on Darvish starts. So let’s fade the aging Darvish while backing the pure dominance of the Dodgers over the Padres.
