Alcantara is coming into this one with terrible form. Over his last 3 starts he has given up 13 earned runs in 15.2 innings. The Marlins have also lost the last 6 games that he has started. This does not look good for today, as the Angels come into this one hitting the ball very well. In the last 7 games the Halos have scored 54 runs while batting .300. Over that span, the Angels also lead the league with 17 home runs and 77 total hits.
For the Angels, Yusei Kikuchi will take the mound. Kikuchi had some struggles to start the year but has turned it around this month. In May he has an ERA of 2.38 giving up 6 runs in 22.2 innings. Making matters worse for the Marlins is that Kikuchi has a 1.65 ERA in home games giving up only 3 earned runs in 16.1 innings. Given the incredible form of the Angels’ hitting, the pitching struggles of Alcantara and the confidence of Kikuchi, I am taking the Angels to win this one. Originally, we all thought the Angels sweeping the Dodgers was luck — what we have learned is that this team has true potential.
