Miami Marlins vs New York Mets Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 08/30/25

After a comical 19-9 game on Friday that saw the Mets score 12 runs in the first two innings, the New York Mets and Miami Marlins look to run it back on Saturday afternoon. There will certainly be some scoring regression, but I am not sure we want to touch a game total of 8 runs here. The Mets have posted an OPS over .850 in August, and I am not about to bet against their offense. The Marlins are still missing their best hitter though, and that makes it hard to back them. I am not excited to play this Money Line because it is so heavily juiced, but this is probably a spot where we should pair it with something else on the board. But as far as this game goes, the Mets should surely win.

New York will throw David Peterson. The lefty has had a terrific season, even if his last outing wasn’t very crisp. Prior to his last outing though, Peterson had logged 3 straight quality starts, and he has been able to get deep into games. He will face Edward Cabrera. For a while, Cabrera was close to the hottest pitcher in baseball. Then, he got hit hard twice in a row, but bounced back in his last outing with a solid 7 innings of 1-hit baseball. He is hard to rely on, but I suspect he will have a strong outing. This one likely gets settled in the bullpens (advantage Mets) and by the scorching hot Mets offense that you simply cannot bet against this month. The Mets should win, and I will probably pair it with a player prop to draw down the juice.
