Miami Marlins
Money Line Pick
WAS Nationals Win(-185)

It wasn’t the prettiest of wins, but the Marlins managed to hold on against the Nationals on Saturday afternoon. The Marlins have the fifth-worst bullpen ERA in the majors, sitting at a 4.71 ERA, and to make matters worse they are going to be stretched thin since they have relied heavily on their bullpen in their last few games. Taking the mound for the Marlins will be Eury Perez, who is 0-1 with a 12.00 ERA on the season. Perez made his first start on June 9, when he gave up 4 earned runs in just 3.0 innings.

For the Nationals, MacKenzie Gore will get the start. He is 3-5 with a 2.88 ERA this season. Gore has pitched well, but unfortunately for him his team hasn’t been able to give him run support. The Nationals average 4.2 runs per game this season, whereas the Marlins average 4.1. The Marlins have a .679 OPS against lefties this season, and the last time Gore faced them he gave up 4 earned runs in 6.0 innings pitched. Gore has had his ups and downs this season, but he is 1-0 with a 0.95 ERA in his last 3 games. Miami has used its bullpen a lot, and I think Gore will be able to eat up some innings and put his team in a position to pick up a much-needed win — making the Nationals money line my best bet of the day.
