The biggest concern with Peralta is that he had his worst game of the season against the Cubs earlier this year. In that game, he gave up 5 runs in just 4.0 innings pitched. At the time, Chicago was hitting the ball well and scoring plenty of runs. The same cannot be said now. The Cubs come into this one scoring 15 runs and batting .199 over the past 6 games. These hitting struggles include games against the Toronto Blue Jays and Pittsburgh Pirates. Those are 2 teams that pitch significantly worse than Milwaukee.

For the Cubs, Horton has looked incredible in his last 5 starts. In those starts he has pitched 28.1 innings giving up 11 hits and 1 earned run. These are shocking numbers considering Horton had a 5.47 ERA through the month of June. Today’s game will prove to be Horton’s toughest task in recent starts. He goes up against a Milwaukee lineup that has scored 51 runs and is batting .304 over the past 6 games. Additionally, the Brewers’ bats have been so hot that they moved up to second in batting average and runs scored on the season. Outside of the starters, both teams have good bullpens with very similar statistics on the year. Overall, I have a hard time fading the Brewers bats especially against a guy like Horton.
