Minnesota Twins vs Boston Red Sox Prediction, Odds and Picks for Saturday, 05/03/25

The Red Sox took care of business Friday night, defeating the Twins 6-1. Minnesota has now dropped four straight, and on Saturday, they’ll turn to Bailey Ober in hopes of turning things around. Ober is 3-1 on the season with a 4.13 ERA, and in his last outing, he went 7.2 innings against the Guardians while allowing just one earned run on eight hits. For the Red Sox, the rookie Hunter Dobbins will get the start who’s 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA. Dobbins has been fitting into this rotation nicely, and with two wins at Fenway already this year, there’s a strong case he could earn a third on Saturday and here’s why.  

The Twins have struggled to hit the ball all season long. Minnesota is batting .235 with an OPS of .673 on the year, averaging just 3.8 runs per game. As for the Red Sox, they’re batting .254 with an OPS of .754, averaging 5.1 runs per game. Alex Bregman is fitting in nicely for the Red Sox and he’s been a big part of their success this season. Bregman is batting .331 on the season with eight homers and 27 RBIs. Ober will need to be careful pitching to Bregman in this matchup, but it’s not just Bregman whose a threat. Jarren Duran has been swinging a hot bat as of late, batting .328 in his last 14 games, and Rafael Devers who’s batting .264 with four homers in his last 14. Overall, this Red Sox team is hitting the ball better than the Twins, plus Dobbin has been fantastic at home in his two starts this year. Look for Boston to take care of business in front of their home crowd, making the Red Sox my best bet of the day.
