Twins vs Reds Pickswise Expert Predictions
In this game, we will see the Minnesota Twins travel to Ohio to take on the Cincinnati Reds. This will be the only series between these teams this year. On the mound, we will see David Festa of the Twins and Andrew Abbott of the Reds. Festa has pitched well in 4 of his 5 starts this year. In those starts, he gave up 5 or fewer hits and 2 or fewer runs. He did have one bad game against the Athletics where he gave up 6 hits and 8 runs in just 3.2 innings. While this was his only bad start, he has only reached the 5th inning once this year. The Twins are quick to pull him from the game. The young pitcher may find some difficulties against a Reds team that has scored 27 over their last 5 games while batting .263 in that time.
For the Reds, Abbott has been fantastic. In his most recent outing, he pitched a complete game against the Cleveland Guardians. Abbott also has a 6-1 record on the year with a 1.87 ERA. These numbers can be further admired when we realize that he has given up 1 or fewer runs in 9 of his 11 starts this year. Abbott should be in for a good game against a Twins lineup that is batting .225 against left-handed pitchers. Additionally, the Twins have been struggling to score runs as they have scored 3 or fewer runs in their last 4 games. Overall, Abbott has been great on the mound and the Twins are in a heavy slump. I am rolling with the Reds to take this first game of the series.
