Twins vs Reds Pickswise Expert Predictions
The Twins and Reds conclude a series on Thursday with some afternoon baseball. The Reds took a rain-shortened win on Wednesday by a score of 4-2. The game ended in the 6th inning, and only the starters pitched. We have rain chances once again on Thursday. The win, such as it was, was the 4th in a row for Cincinnati, and they have now won 9 of their last 11. The Twins are sliding the other way, having lost 6 in a row and 10 of their last 12. Momentum says we should take the Reds on Thursday, and I don’t hate that play, but I am going to play the under on the game total of 9.
The pitching is probably not anything special. Chris Paddock is a veteran who has pitched well all season until his previous outing, where he got lit up by the Astros for 8 runs. I’m willing to say that is an outlier rather than the start of a pattern. For the Reds, it will be Nick Martinez, who has not been sharp in 2 of his last 3 starts. I do, however, think it is very significant that neither team used any of its bullpen on Wednesday, so everyone is available Thursday. I also just love an afternoon under in general, as something about those day games tends to suppress scoring more often than not. Add some rainy conditions and heavy air, and we might have a lower-scoring game on our hands. Give me the under.
Twins vs Reds Prediction: Under 9 (+100) available at the time of publishing. Playable at that number.
