Mets vs Red Sox Pickswise Expert Predictions
We look to Boston for a Tuesday matchup between the New York Mets and Boston Red Sox. We are in a strange spot with this game. The Mets have hit the skids of late, losing 4 of their last 5. Bigger than that though, is how they are doing it. Juan Soto isn’t hustling and everyone can see it, Pete Alonso has gotten the yips on defense and the bullpen hasn’t been up to standard. It is a concerning situation for the Mets, and if they don’t get right tonight, we could see them spiral for a bit. As for the Red Sox, they are treading water just below .500, they have a problem with their best player, and their starting pitcher tonight is making a return from the IL with a shoulder injury. Not an easy spot to bet. Cautiously, I am looking for the Mets to win tonight.
I am worried about Walker Buehler’s return for the Red Sox on the mound. Buehler is so consistently injured over the past couple of years that a shoulder injury worries me. He has spent a couple weeks on the IL resting it, but is now returning without a rehab start. Therefore, I don’t know what to expect. He will face Clay Holmes, the converted reliever. Holmes has been mostly effective, but he doesn’t work beyond about 90 pitches. Ultimately, I am betting that the Mets get back on track and even this series on Tuesday.
