New York Mets vs Chicago Cubs Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 09/24/25

The New York Mets escaped with a win last night against the Cubs, sliding back into the final NL Wild Card spot with five games remaining. Tonight, the Mets are hoping to secure another much needed win as they send the rookie Jonah Tong to the mound who enters with a 2-2 record and a 5.94 ERA. 

For the Cubs, the left-hander Matthew Boyd will get the nod, entering with a 13-8 record and a 3.20 ERA. Boyd hasn’t looked like himself on the mound, going 1-2 with a 6.49 ERA in his last five outings. The Cubs have now dropped five in a row, and the last thing Chicago wants is their team to be ice cold heading into the postseason. This is a must win for New York, and this game could go either way, but I expect both starters to give up their fair share of runs. Offensively, the Mets are averaging 5.4 runs per game in their last 10 compared to the Cubs 3.8. Look for both teams to score early in this one, making the over my best bet of the day.
