New York Mets vs Detroit Tigers Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 09/02/25

The New York Mets will look to lock up an early series win tonight after defeating the Tigers 10-8 yesterday. A big part of the Mets offense was from Juan Soto, going 2-for-3 with six RBIs. Tonight, the Mets will be sending Nolan McLean to the mound who enters with a 3-0 record and 0.89 ERA. The rookie has been fantastic since being called up by the Mets, but he’ll have his work cut out for him against this dangerous Tigers team. 

For Detroit, Sawyer Gipson-Long gets the start, entering with a 0-1 record and 4.32 ERA. This will be his third start of the season as the majority of his work has been out of the bullpen this season. It’s unlikely Gipson-Long will go deep into this game, and that will put added pressure on the Tigers bullpen as it was heavily utilized in last night’s game. Offensively, the Mets are averaging 7.9 runs per game in their last 10 compared to the Tigers 4.7 runs per game in that span. The Mets have the advantage on the mound and at the plate, and I think they’ll have no issues getting to Gipson-Long early on in this one.
