Mets vs Royals Pickswise Expert Predictions
The New York Mets look to finish the first half of the season strong by completing a sweep of the Kansas City Royals. Clay Holmes will get the start on Sunday, entering the series finale with an 8-4 record, 3.29 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP. Holmes hasn’t secured a win in his last two starts, and on Sunday, he’ll be hoping to pick up a much needed win against a struggling Royals team.
Taking the mound for the Royals will be left-hander Noah Cameron, who enters with a 3-4 record and a 2.56 ERA. Cameron has been solid for the Royals this season, coming off his longest outing of the season where he threw seven innings, allowing just two earned runs while striking out seven. Offensively, both teams have been fairly similar over the past couple of weeks. The Royals are averaging 4.1 runs per game with a .725 OPS over their last 14 games, while the Mets are averaging 4.5 runs per game and a .707 OPS over their last 13. The Mets are batting .231 against lefties season, and with Cameron taking the mound, I think the Royals will be able to keep this game close. Cameron has been the better pitcher as of late, and based on the way these two offenses have been hitting the ball, I think the Royals will be in a position to steal a game and avoid getting swept at home before the All-Star break.
