Mets vs Marlins Pickswise Expert Predictions

New York Mets
Game Totals Pick
Over 8.0(-115)

In this game, we will see the New York Mets take on the Miami Marlins. This game means the world for the Mets as they need a win in order to have a shot of making the playoffs. To take the mound for the Mets will be Sean Manaea. To say that Manaea has had a rough season would be an understatement. He has a 5.80 ERA with a 2-4 record. More concerning is that he has given up 15 runs in his last 17.2 innings pitched. Things get even worse away from New York, as he has a 7.09 away ERA. He will go up against a Marlins lineup that bats .250 on the season and rank 6th in total runs scored. The Marlins showed this hitting ability 2 nights ago when they beat the Mets 6-2. Overall, I have a hard time trusting Manaea in this one.

For the Marlins, Edward Cabrera will take the mound. Cabrera has been decent this season with a 3.66 ERA and a 7-7 record. The issue for Cabrera is that he has fallen off in recent starts. In 4 of his last 5 starts, he has given up 3+ runs while being pulled prior to finishing the 5th inning in 3 of them. Cabrera has faced the Mets once this year where he pitched 4 innings giving up 8 hits and 5 earned runs. This is just the pitcher that the Mets were hoping for in this one. Outside of the starters, the Mets bullpen has a 3.92 ERA on the season while the Marlins pern has a 4.30 ERA. Overall, I think both starters will struggle, and we may see some runs out of both bullpens. I am rolling with the over in this game.

Mets vs. Marlins Prediction: Over 8.0 (-115) available at the time of publishing. Playable at that number.
