The right-hander has had some good seasons in the majors when he is available and healthy, but the story around him has always been the issues with his right shoulder. The San Francisco Giants hope they can get the most out of him this season, but his most starts over the last 3 seasons came in 2022, when he had just 23. Last season, Mahle started 16 games for the Texas Rangers, posting a 2.08 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP, which were elite. The problem is we don’t know if he can do it over an entire season.

Nolan McLean’s debut with the New York Mets last season was red-hot, owning a 5-1 record in eight starts with a 2.06 ERA. New York’s offense isn’t going to stay quiet all season, and as long as they don’t wake up in this game, it could be another low-scoring game.
