Money Line Pick
NY Mets Win(-120)

The New York Mets erupted for 10 runs last night against the San Francisco Giants, a strong sign that their offense may finally be finding its rhythm. Multiple hitters contributed in a big way, including Bo Bichette, Marcus Semien, and Francisco Alvarez who hit two solo blasts in last night’s game. The Mets will look to carry that momentum into tonight’s matchup as they hand the ball to Clay Holmes, who enters at 1-0 with a 3.18 ERA. Holmes was sharp in his season debut against the Cardinals, allowing just four hits while striking out five over 5.2 innings. San Francisco counters with Landen Roupp, who was dominant in his first start, tossing six scoreless innings with seven strikeouts against the Padres.

Offensively, neither team has been particularly strong to begin the season. The Mets are batting .230 on the season, averaging 4.4 runs per game. As for the Giants, they’re hitting .218 and averaging three runs per game. This is a tough spot for the Giants, Holmes has been one of the Mets more reliable arms in their rotation, and even if he gets pulled early, the Mets have one of the strongest bullpens in all of baseball with a 1.93 ERA. Roupp may have had a strong start against the Padres, but he did struggle in spring training, posting a 4.15 ERA. This Mets team is far more talented than the Giants, and until San Francisco can consistently put together runs, I simply can’t trust them, no matter how good their starting pitching is. Look for the Mets to pick up another road win, making them my best bet of the day.
