New York Yankees
Money Line Pick
NY Yankees Win(-120)

The New York Yankees don’t have to travel too far for their upcoming series, as they are set to kick start the second half of the season against the Atlanta Braves. The Yankees are currently 2 games out of first in the AL East, something they didn’t expect to be the case heading into the all-star break. For Friday’s matchup, there’s a big question mark surrounding Max Fried. Prior to the break, Fried suffered a blister on his pitching hand, and it’s yet to be determined if he’ll be ready to go. On the year, Fried is 11-3 with a 2.43 ERA.

For the Braves, Spencer Strider is expected to get the start. Strider enters with a 3-7 record and a 3.94 ERA, along with 74 strikeouts in 61.2 innings pitched. Strider has been solid on the mound, but what he’ll need most in the second half of the season is more run support. Atlanta ranks 24th in the league in runs scored, averaging just 4.1 per game. As for the Yankees, they are third in that category by averaging 5.2 runs per game. The extra days off help the Yankees, as they will have plenty of options to choose from if Fried doesn’t get the go-ahead to start Friday’s game. With the way this Yankees lineup has been hitting in the first half, I think they will find ways to score enough runs against Strider to pick up the win.
