Yankees vs Astros Pickswise Expert Predictions

New York Yankees
Money Line Pick
NY Yankees Win(-120)

The red-hot New York Yankees head to Houston to open a three-game set with the Astros. New York has taken seven of its last ten games, while Houston has won six in that same span. This is a critical matchup for both teams as they look to win their respective divisions. Tonight, it will be the battle of the left-handers and the Yankees have a slight advantage and here’s why.

Taking the mound for the Yankees will be Max Fried, who enters with a 14-5 record and 3.06 ERA. Fried has rebounded nicely in his last two starts, going 1-0 with a 0.69 ERA. For the Astros, Framber Valdez enters with a 12-7 record and 3.18 ERA. While solid overall, Valdez is 1-1 with a 5.25 ERA over his last two starts. Back on August 9th, Valdez faced the Yankees, pitching a no-decision, giving up four runs on eight hits in 5.2 innings pitched. For Fried, he picked up the loss against Houston on August 10, allowing four earned runs on eight hits in five innings pitched. Today, both starters will look for revenge. However, I like the way the Yankees are hitting the ball as of late, plus Fried looks to be in better form than Valdez right now. Look for New York to win on the road, making them my best bet of the day.
