New York Yankees vs Minnesota Twins Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 09/16/25

With only 12 games remaining, the New York Yankees need a lot to go their way if they want any chance at winning the AL East. The Yankees were embarrassed by the Twins last night, losing 7-0, and they’ll look to bounce back tonight behind Cameron Schlittler, who enters with a 3-3 record and a 3.05 ERA. When Schlittler faced the Twins back on August 13, he gave up one earned run on two hits in five innings pitched. 

For the Twins, Zebby Matthews will get the start, entering with a 4-5 record and a 5.06 ERA. Matthews  has been inconsistent this season, and in his last outing against New York on August 11, he allowed three runs on six hits over 5.2 innings. Offensively, the Yankees have struggled over their last 10 games, averaging 3.3 runs per game compared to the Twins 4.7. We’ve seen this all year, when New York doesn’t hit home runs, they tend to struggle to generate offense. Schlittler has been outstanding for the Yankees, but he doesn’t typically go deep into the game. Regardless, I like New York in this matchup and they should be able to rebound and score enough runs to give the rookie a win.
