They’ve lost the top spot in the AL East, and now they have to face their crosstown rivals. They’ll turn to Marcus Stroman on Friday afternoon, and he’ll be making his fifth start of the season. He’s struggled in his first 4 outings, as he’s allowed 13 earned runs in 14.1 innings and has issued more walks (9) than strikeouts (8). Despite some recent struggles, the Mets should be in a decent position to do some damage at the plate against Stroman.

The Mets are opting for a bullpen game, and are slated to have 28-year-old right-hander Justin Hagenman start on the mound. New York’s bullpen ERA of 3.76 sits 14th in the league, meaning they’ve been fairly middle-of-the-pack so far. Both of these teams have burned through a lot of bullpen arms in the past few days, so it will be interesting to see who is even available in relief. All in all, the offenses could have the edge on both sides. Look to the over.
