New York Yankees vs Seattle Mariners Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 03/31/26

The New York Yankees offense looked stagnant last night against the Seattle Mariners, managing just one run on five hits. Trent Grishman has struggled in the leadoff spot, hitting just .154 through his first four games, and those issues date back to spring training where he batted .171. Seattle, on the other hand, walked it off in the ninth thanks to a clutch hit from Cal Raleigh, handing Paul Blackburn his first loss of the season. The Mariners have been solid offensively, ranking 9th in the league in OPS (.752) while the Yankees sit 23rd (.624). Pitching has been the strength for both teams early, with Seattle holding a 2.35 ERA, while New York is sitting at a .076 team ERA.

On the mound tonight for the Yankees, they’ll turn to Max Fried, who was dominant in his season debut against the San Francisco Giants. Fried tossed 6.1 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out four. The Mariners counter with Logan Gilbert, who is coming off a shaky start against the Cleveland Guardians, giving up three earned runs over 5.1 innings. While Gilbert is a talented arm, he has historically struggled against the Yankees, posting a 6.57 ERA against them in his career. Fried, meanwhile, has been effective against Seattle, holding a 1.59 ERA across three career starts. Even though the Yankees offense has been slow out of the gate, this feels like a good position for them to get back on track. Aaron Judge is too good to stay quiet for long, and this could be a matchup where he breaks out. With Friend giving New York the edge on the mound, I think Judge and the rest of this Yankees offense will get it going early, as they rebound back from yesterday’s tough loss.
