Yankees vs Rays Pickswise Expert Predictions

Run Line Pick
TB Rays +1.5(-110)

The New York Yankees come into this matchup in a slump, having dropped three straight and four of their last five, and their offensive struggles have been a major reason why. New York is batting just .201 as a team – ranking them 28th in the league, just above the Chicago White Sox and Seattle Mariners. As for Tampa Bay, they’ve been far more productive at the plate, hitting .255 on the season, which ranks among the top offenses in baseball. That offensive edge could play a key role in this matchup, especially given the Yankees recent struggles at the plate.

Taking the mound for the Yankees will be Max Fried who enters at 2-0 with a 1.35 ERA. For the Rays, Nick Martinez will look to pick up his first win of the season, entering at 0-0 with a 2.25 ERA. While both starters are capable of limiting damage, this game may ultimately come down to which lineup can capitalize on scoring opportunities. That’s where the gap becomes clear. Outside of Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger, Giancarlo Stanton, and Ben Rice, the Yankees lineup has offered very little production, with much of the roster hitting below .200. Even against a Rays bullpen that holds a 6.33 ERA, it’s difficult to trust New York to fully take advantage. Tampa Bay, on the other hand, has shown far more consistency at the plate and should be able to find ways to keep this game close.

Yankees vs Rays prediction: Rays +1.5 (-110) available at time of publishing. Playable at that number.
