New York Yankees vs Texas Rangers Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 08/06/25

We have a busy afternoon slate on Wednesday, and we are here with a New York Yankees vs Texas Rangers prediction. The Rangers have won the first two games in this series, including a 2-0 shutout of the Yankees on Tuesday. Nate Eovaldi threw a gem of a game, throwing 8 innings of 1-hit baseball. The loss pushed the Yankees’ losing streak to 5 straight games, much of which has been due to offensive struggles. The upside Tuesday for the Bombers was the return of Aaron Judge, although he will be limited to DH duty for the foreseeable future. There is some early sharp money splashing the Rangers to sweep, but I think the best bet in this spot is the Yankees to win and snap the losing streak.

Let’s start on the mound, as the Yankees have Carlos Rodon getting the ball in this one. He has had a few rough starts lately—he has walked 5 guys in 2 of his last 3 starts, and in the other, he allowed 3 homers. For Rodon to be successful, he needs to eliminate all those things from his game. Working in his favor is the fact that the Rangers walk less than most teams in the league, and they have a bottom 5 offense vs left-handed pitching. Unless something is seriously wrong with Rodon, this spot screams “positive regression”. On the other side is Jack Leiter, who has been throwing well lately, especially in terms of a high K rate and limiting the opponent scoring. There are 2 glaring problems though. First, Leiter has a very high walk rate (3 or 4 walks in 4 straight games), and the Yankees walk more than anyone in baseball. Second, the Yankees also boast the second-highest slugging percentage vs righties. If statistics are in any way meaningful and predictive in this sport, this has got to be a Yankee win, and I am casting my lot heavily in that direction.
