Philadelphia Phillies vs Colorado Rockies Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 04/05/26

The Philadelphia Phillies escaped Colorado with a one-run victory last time out, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the hosts are able to keep it close this time around as well. Taijuan Walker (11.57 ERA, 2.79 WHIP) takes the bump for Philly after a nightmare beginning to the season. The righty surrendered 6 earned runs with 10 hits allowed and 3 walks in just 4.2 innings against Washington to begin the year. While it’s a small sample size, looking back at Walker’s baseball savant profile from 2025 looks like a weather map during a winter storm; it’s all blue. It doesn’t get much better in relief as Philadelphia’s bullpen currently ranks 26th in MLB with a 5.34 combined ERA. 

On the flip side, Tomoyuki Sugano (1.93 ERA, 0.86 WHIP) had an ideal beginning to the season in his first start of the year, allowing just 2 hits and 1 earned run in 4.2 innings. The bullpen has been significantly improved to begin the year as well, currently posting a solid 3.12 combined ERA. Philadelphia’s bats have been wildly inconsistent at this early point in the season and see an interesting price. After commanding a near -250 price on the money line Saturday, that number is down to just -165 with Walker on the mound. I’ll back what has been the better pitching staff up to this point and take Colorado to keep this one close and cover the run line.
