Phillies vs Dodgers Pickswise Expert Predictions
The Philadelphia Phillies and the Los Angeles Dodgers face off on Tuesday after the Phillies outlasted the Dodgers for a 5-4 win on Monday. This series feels like it will be an inevitable playoff matchup, and on one level, these teams would prefer not to expose too much of their pitching to one another. On another level, the Phillies are only 1 game back of Milwaukee for home field advantage, and the Dodgers are only 2 games up on the Padres for the division crown. I think that leads to a tight, hotly contested game with two great starters on the mound. I am playing the game total under 7.5.
Cristopher Sanchez would likely be the Cy Young winner if Paul Skenes wasn’t a thing. He has been fantastic all season, and his ability to not only limit damage but also to give his team 6 or 7 innings every night has been invaluable. Philly has sought to limit him a bit down the stretch to keep him fresh, especially after Wheeler went down, but he should limit the Dodgers for however long he goes tonight. He will face Shohei Ohtani, who has now built up to around 80 pitches per start. That usually carries him through 4 innings, maybe 5. Working to his advantage tonight is the fact that only Harrison Bader has logged any career ABs against him. My take on this game is that the starters will give us 5 quiet innings, and then we will play the bullpen leverage game the rest of the way. A 3-2 kind of game is what I am expecting here. I’ll risk the under.
Phillies vs Dodgers Prediction: Under 7.5 (-115) available at the time of publishing. Playable at that number.
