Giants vs Blue Jays Pickswise Expert Predictions

San Francisco Giants
Money Line Pick
TOR Blue Jays Win(-140)

The AL East-leading Toronto Blue Jays will look to pick up right where they left off as they begin the second half of the season on Friday. They open a with a 3-game series against a tough San Francisco Giants squad, aiming to secure a series win before heading into a key matchup with the Yankees. Offensively, the Blue Jays have the slight edge — averaging 4.6 runs per game compared to the Giants’ 4.1. While the Giants aren’t known for their offensive firepower, they do boast strong pitching — sitting third in team ERA at 3.50 (significantly better than Toronto’s 4.16).

Looking at the pitching matchup, winless Justin Verlander will get the start for the Giants. The 42-year-old enters this game with an 0-7 record and a 4.70 ERA. For Toronto, Chris Bassitt gets the nod while coming in at 9-4 with a 4.12 ERA on the season. Verlander isn’t the dominant ace we have seen in years past; not only is he coming off another IL stint in May, but he has also struggled with command — posting a 1.42 WHIP. Toronto’s bats have been hot lately, and the 4-day break shouldn’t cool them off. Look for the Jays to get to Verlander early on and kick off the second half of the season with a win.
