In this game, we will see the Seattle Mariners take on the Detroit Tigers for Game 4 of the American League Division Series. The Mariners currently lead the series 2-1 and are looking to close the series in Detroit today. On the mound, we have Bryce Miller of the Mariners and Casey Mize of the Tigers. Miller will be making his first playoff start after a rather disappointing year. On the year, he has a 5.68 ERA with a 4-6 record. The runs that Miller gives up per game has been an issue since May. Miller has given up 3+ runs in 10 of his last 12 starts. With numbers like this, we can suspect that they intend to pull him early and rely on their bullpen that has only given up 5 runs over the past 3 games. Part of that is due to the hitting struggles of the Tigers, as they have been patting .191 since the playoffs started. Though I feel we may see this trend change today.

On the season, his numbers have been similar to this with a 3.87 ERA and a 14-6 record. He has faced the Mariners twice this season where he gave up 0 runs through 5.2 innings and 6 runs in 3 innings. The positive things for Mize is that the Mariners are only batting .212 over the past 3 games. Mize has a good chance of controlling the mound in this one. Outside of Mize, the Tigers bullpen has also only given up 5 runs over the past 3 games. Overall, I trust Mize significantly more than I trust Miller and the Tigers will be looking to force a Game 5 in this series. I am rolling with the Tigers to get the win and tie the series.
