St. Louis Cardinals vs Chicago Cubs Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 09/26/25
Cardinals vs Cubs Pickswise Expert Predictions
It is the final weekend of the MLB season, and it gets started with a matinee game at Wrigley between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs have been safely into the playoffs for awhile now, and there seems to be little to either gain or lose this weekend for them. I think their primary goals will be to get everyone rest, stay sharp, and line up their pitching the way they want it. For the Cardinals, this is just about finishing out the season. So there is not a lot of reason to back either of these teams, really. Yet, the odd dynamic here is that a lot of sharp money has poured in on the Cardinals on Friday morning; that has my attention. I am going to go with that movement, and my Cardinals vs Cubs prediction is the Cardinals on the money line.
The pitching matchup is not interesting at all: Miles Mikolas vs Colin Rea. Both are guys I love to fade as they are older, veteran arms with below-average stuff. If you are looking for an interesting hitter prop, Pete Crow-Armstrong is 6 of 7 with 4 homers against Mikolas, which is just a hilarious stat line. When the game gets late, the Cubs have reason to manage their bullpen carefully through the weekend, while the Cardinals can do whatever. Again, I do not see a lot of reason to side one way or another from a situational perspective, but I am intrigued by the early flow of sharp money, so give me the Cardinals at plus money.
