Cardinals vs Tigers Pickswise Expert Predictions

Game Totals Pick
Over 7.5(-105)

The Detroit Tigers snapped their four-game losing streak on Friday with a 4-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. Dillon Dingler belted a two-run homer in the fourth, and after that, the Tigers never looked back. The Tigers pitching staff delivered a dominant performance, with Framber Valdez tossing six scoreless innings, and the bullpen taking care of the rest. The Cardinals couldn’t get anything going offensively, managing just five hits on the day. Both of these teams have been slow out of the gate at the plate, with St. Louis ranking 20th in batting average (.220) and averaging 4.1 runs per game. Detroit hasn’t been much better, hitting .228 (14th) while averaging 4.0 runs per game.

Taking the mound for the Cardinals will be Dustin May who struggled in his first start of the season against the Rays, giving up six earned runs on 10 hits in four innings pitched. For the Tigers, Jack Flaherty will look to improve from his last outing as well, where he gave up two earned runs on four hits in 4.1 innings pitched. Even though both teams have struggled offensively this season, it’s hard to trust either starting pitcher in this matchup. The Tigers are a much better team than their record indicates, and they’ll likely win the American League Central. St. Louis should be able to string together a few runs against Flaherty in this matchup, and I expect the Tigers to score plenty of runs against May early on. At the end of the day, the best bet is the over.

Cardinals vs Detroit prediction: Over 7.5 (-105) available at time of publishing. Playable at that number.
