St. Louis Cardinals vs Milwaukee Brewers Prediction, Odds and Picks for Thursday, 06/12/25

A couple of NL Central foes clash on Thursday as the St. Louis Cardinals take on the Milwaukee Brewers. The Cardinals, who had been one of the hotter teams in the league over the last few weeks, are coming off a sweep at the hands of the Blue Jays. The Brewers, who have also been strong of late, lost two of three to the Braves to begin the week. It is get-right time for both teams. We also have an interesting situation cooking, as we have a veteran pitcher facing a rookie power arm. In these situations, I generally avoid backing a rookie starter making his career debut, so I am going with the Cardinals on the Money Line.

Let’s start with Sonny Gray. He has tossed 4 consecutive quality starts, and he has done so with relative ease. He is being super efficient with his pitches, inducing lots of weak contact, limiting the free bases, and more or less refusing to give up any runs. For the Brewers, it will be rookie Jacob Misiorowski taking the ball. This dude has a high ceiling, so don’t sleep on him. He is 6’7”, has a fastball that sits around 100, a huge K rate, and a high walk rate that you would expect to go along with that other stuff. He is the top pitching prospect in the organization, so this isn’t a guy just making a spot start—they intend him to stick and to anchor the rotation in the years to come. Still, rookie debut spots are tough, and they have a wide range of variance. I’ll cast my lot with the steady veteran and see what happens. Give me the Cardinals in this one.
