Cardinals vs Mariners Pickswise Expert Predictions
The St. Louis Cardinals head to Seattle for a series with the Mariners. The Cardinals took 2 of 3 from the Mariners and are sitting at .500 on the season. Seattle is still clinging to the final wild-card slot, trying to fend off a slew of teams making late runs. The Mariners blasted the Braves over the weekend, scoring 28 runs in the last 2 days. They will look to keep the bats hot as they return home on Monday, and I am going to take them to do just that. Give me the Mariners -1.5.
Bryan Woo takes the mound, and I love backing Woo. He is one of the most under-appreciated arms in baseball. He keeps guys off base, and he consistently turns in excellent numbers, no matter what your favorite metric is. Even better tonight, not a single hitter in the projected lineup for St. Louis has ever seen Woo. On the other side, I love fading Miles Mikolas. Admittedly, Mikolas has been plenty competent this season and has burned me, but I’ll keep fading him anyway. He’s a soft-tosser at this point in his career and just not very good, and the blowup potential is high. Lots of Mariners have seen him plenty, including Eugenio Suarez from his time with the Reds. Suarez is 9-for-19 with 4 homers if you are looking for a BvP bet for tonight. Also note that the Mariners’ bullpen will want to throw tonight after 2 straight blowouts. I like Seattle to cover this one.
Cardinals vs Mariners prediction: Seattle -1.5 (-105) available at time of publishing. Playable at that number.
