The Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks finish a series on Wednesday afternoon. Arizona took Tuesday’s game, 5-3, snapping a 6-game winning streak for the Rangers (and 9 of their previous 10). Of course, over the weekend, the Rangers lost their 2 bets hitters in Corey Seager (season) and Adolis Garcia (maybe just a few days?). Without those two bats in the middle of the order, this Rangers team seems quite weak. With those guys out of the lineup, I am looking to back the pitchers on Wednesday and play the game total under 9.

Zac Gallen has had a season to forget, to be sure, but his last few starts have started to right the ship. He has turned in 3 quality starts in a row, including 12 scoreless innings against the Reds and Dodgers. His strikeout numbers have been up, and maybe things are straightening out for Gallen. And again, the Rangers’ lineup is thin on Wednesday. He will face Jack Leiter, who has been really good for the Rangers. He has had a couple of short starts this month, but he did toss 5 innings of 1-run baseball against the Snakes earlier this month too, so I like his chances. Of course, we have two volatile bullpens that we need to keep in check, but I still like the under in this afternoon spot.
