TEX Rangers Win(-130)

The Texas Rangers will look to keep their hot start rolling as they send Jacob DeGrom to the mound. The 37-year-old was dominant last season, going 12-8 with a 2.98 ERA, and he’ll aim to carry that momentum into this start. While he was limited in spring training, he was effective, tossing three scoreless innings with five strikeouts. The Baltimore Orioles will counter with Zach Eflin, a steady arm who can generate weak contact and limit damage when he’s on. While he may not overpower hitters, he’s capable of keeping Baltimore in this game if he’s locating well. Last season, Eflin posted a 6-5 record with a 5.93 ERA.

Offensively, the Rangers rank 17th in OPS (.683), averaging 5.3 runs per game while the Orioles rank 20th in OPS (.636) with 3.3 runs per game. The big difference in this matchup comes on the mound – particularly in the bullpen. The Rangers have been outstanding, posting a 2.50 team ERA, backed by a dominant bullpen holding a 0.56 ERA. Baltimore has been solid overall with a 3.75 ERA and a respectable 3.07 bullpen ERA, but they don’t quite match the level of Texas right now. At the plate, Jake Burger has been red hot to start the season, batting .471, and the addition of Brandon Nimmo (.353 AVG) has helped tremendously. For Baltimore, they can’t seem to get anything going offensively, and Adley Rutschman is their only player hitting above .300. I trust DeGrom way more in this start than I do Eflin, and this Rangers offense should be able to score some early runs, allowing them to take advantage of a fatigued Orioles bullpen. At the end of the day, DeGrom and this Rangers team look a lot more impressive than Baltimore, making Texas my best bet of the day.
