Texas Rangers vs New York Mets Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 09/13/25

We are in the home stretch of baseball’s regular season, and things are getting weird. That is especially true with the Texas Rangers and New York Mets. The Rangers won the series opener last night, pushing their winning streak to 5 straight, and they have done it all without Seager, Semien, or Garcia — their core hitters. The Mets have now lost 7 straight, and despite their best efforts to back their way out of the playoff picture, they still hold on to a narrow lead in the wild card (mostly because the Reds refuse to play better than .500 baseball). On Saturday, I cannot bring myself to pay the freight to bet on the Mets, but I also cannot believe the Rangers will keep winning. As such, I am going to attack the game total under 8.5.

The under is probably counterintuitive with Patrick Corbin and a rookie on the mound. Corbin has been good for the Rangers most nights, although the blow-up potential is always there. The Mets have 3 guys who have faced Corbin 40+ times (Lindor, Alonso, Nimmo), with a combined 10 homers, so if you want to fade Corbin, you could make a strong case. But Corbin really has been useful for the Rangers most days, so I’ll take the risk. He will face yet another Mets rookie, Brandon Sproat. Sproat was solid in his debut, and again, the Rangers’ lineup absolutely should not be scoring right now. Both bullpens have also been strong. I think there is a good chance we get a couple of strong starts followed by the high-leverage arms, and both teams need to play this game like it means everything. I’ll take the under.
