The Athletics
Money Line Pick
Athletics Win(-120)

The Athletics finish up a series with the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday afternoon, a series that the A’s have outright dominated with their bats. The A’s have won by scores of 10-4 and 17-4 so far, and for those still paying attention to baseball teams that are out of contention, the Athletics are showcasing just how much fun their young and talented lineup can be. With the way the A’s are hitting the ball right now, it is hard to bet against them. My pick for Sunday’s series finale is the A’s on the Money Line.

Luis Severino will take the ball for the visitors. He returned earlier this week after an absence of about a month, and he tossed 5 scoreless innings against the Cardinals. He was limited to about 60 pitches and should build up to around 80 today. The Angels will give the ball to Mitch Farris for a second start. Farris is a rookie who had never pitched above Double A until his debut, a game in which he went 5 innings and allowed only 1 run to the Royals. He is a lefty who is lower on the velocity scale, but he had a big strikeout profile in the minors. He didn’t fan many Royals in his debut, but the Royals don’t strike out much in general. Nor do they score, so today is more of a test against the red hot Athletics’ lineup. This game will likely end up in the hands of both bullpens for half the game, and neither unit is very reliable, so backing anyone in this game with confidence is tough. Still, I am not going to go against a team who has scored 27 runs already this weekend.

Athletics vs Angels Prediction: Athletics ML (-120) available at the time of publishing. Playable at that number.
