Athletics vs Yankees Pickswise Expert Predictions
It’s time for some Saturday baseball in the Bronx as the Yankees look to keep things rolling against the A’s. New York’s pitching was dominant on Friday, allowing just three hits and no earned runs in a 3-0 shutout victory. Taking the mound for the Yankees is Clarke Schmidt, who enters with a 4-3 record and an impressive 2.84 ERA on the season. Schmidt was lights-out in his last start against the Orioles, tossing seven no-hit, scoreless innings. In fact, what’s even more impressive is that Schmidt hasn’t allowed a single run in his last 25.1 innings pitched.
For the A’s, JP Sears will get the start, who’s 5-7 with a 5.44 ERA on the season. Sears has recorded only one win since April 28th, and in his last start, he allowed three earned runs in five innings pitched against the Guardians. These two teams are on different levels right now, and sure, the A’s have some talent in their lineup but they haven’t had any consistency all season. The Yankees aren’t exactly lighting up the scoreboard up with their offense, averaging 4.7 runs per game in their last six. However, the A’s are only averaging 1.5 runs in that same span. The Yankees have the better pitching and hitting in this matchup and they should have no issues picking up another victory in the Bronx, which is why I’m backing the Yankees to win by 2 or more.
