Athletics vs Yankees Pickswise Expert Predictions

Run Line Pick
NY Yankees -1.5(+100)

The New York Yankees were able to escape with a 5-3 win over the Athletics, thanks to Amed Rosario, who delivered two home runs and four RBIs. While the Yankees sit at an impressive 8-2, much of that success has been driven by their pitching rather than their offense. The Yankees have the second-best team ERA in the league (2.42), but offensively, they’re batting just .225 as a team, which puts them 18th in all of the majors. Today, the Yankees will look to keep things rolling in the Bronx as they send Will Warren to the mound who is 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA. For the A’s, Luis Severino will get the nod, entering with a 0-1 record and a 6.48 ERA.

While Severino is very familiar with this Yankees lineup, that familiarity hasn’t translated into success. In two starts against New York last season, he went 0-2 with a 15.62 ERA. On the other side, Warren was terrific against the A’s last season, going 2-0 with a 0.73 ERA. The Yankees pitching staff should once again give them the edge, but the offense remains a concern. Several hitters – including Trent Grisham, Jazz Chisholm, Austin Wells, Jose Caballero, Ryan McMahon – are all batting .200 or lower, putting added pressure on the middle of the lineup to produce. However, there’s still plenty of time for the Yankees to figure things out offensively, and for tonight’s matchup, I’m expecting the heart of this Yankees lineup to do some damage against Severino. Warren should be able to handle business on the mound, with the Yankees strong bullpen to finish things up. Look for the Yankees to walk away with a win as they keep things rolling in the Bronx.
