The Athletics vs Pittsburgh Pirates Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 09/20/25

It’s a little too late in the season, but the Athletics are playing some of their best baseball right now. The A’s have won seven of their last eight and will look to keep the momentum going this afternoon against the Pirates in game two. Taking the mound for the Athletics will be Luis Morales who enters with a 4-1 record and a 3.08 ERA. 

For the Pirates, Bubba Chandler will get the start, entering with a 2-1 record and a 5.66 ERA. Chandler really just had one bad outing this season, where he allowed nine earned runs in 2.2 innings pitched against the Brewers back on September 7. In his last start against the Nationals, he pitched six strong innings, striking out seven and allowing just one earned run. Offensively, the A’s are averaging 4.1 runs per game compared to the Pirates 2.6. This is a matchup that could go either way, but the A’s are playing a lot better baseball right now than the Pirates and they have the slight edge offensively and with Morales on the mound.
