Athletics vs Rays Pickswise Expert Predictions
We have a crowded slate of games on Wednesday after a slew of rainouts on Tuesday, and the Athletics vs the Tampa Bay Rays is the first game out of the gate. The Athletics have taken the first two games in the series, both in their final at-bat. It took extras to win it on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Tampa has its ace on the mound, and they will be looking to salvage a win from this series and stop a streak of losing 4 of their last 5 games. I think the Rays will win this game, and I expect them to do it comfortably. I’m taking the Rays to cover the Run Line of -1.5 at plus money.
Ryan Pepiot has been the best pitcher for Tampa all season. He had an outlier start last time at Baltimore in a game that got out of hand early, but I fully expect Pepiot to bounce back on Wednesday. Prior to the bad game last week, he had fanned 18 batters in his previous 2 starts, and the A’s are a K-happy team. I expect a strong outing from Pepiot. He will face Mitch Spence, who has been back and forth between the bullpen and the rotation. He is unlikely to throw more than 85-90 pitches, which means he can’t hand the game directly to Mason Miller himself. Anyone else involved in the game for the A’s is bad, bad news. This bullpen has held so far in this series, and that dam is just waiting to break. Tampa gets to them and covers.
Athletics vs Rays prediction: Rays -1.5 (+110) available at time of publishing. Playable at that number.
