Toronto Blue Jays vs Chicago White Sox Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 04/05/26

Heading into Sunday’s matchup, the Toronto Blue Jays didn’t expect to be staring at a potential sweep against the Chicago White Sox. Toronto has struggled throughout the series, committing three errors while failing to generate consistent offense against a pitching staff that entered with the worst team ERA in the league at 7.01. Taking the mound for the Blue Jays will be the left-hander, Eric Laurer, who enters at 1-0 and a 3.38 ERA. For the White Sox, Davis Martin will get the nod, entering with a 1-0 record and 5.40 ERA. 

Toronto will be without Alejandro Kirk, who was placed on the 10-day IL with a fractured left thumb. In his absence, the Blue Jays will need more production from key bats like George Springer, who is hitting just .147, and Daulton Varsho, who sits at .182 on the season. Despite their struggles in this series, Toronto still holds the edge offensively, batting .245 as a team compared to Chicago’s .212 average. The Blue Jays are simply the more talented team, and this is the type of matchup they should be able to take advantage of. As these two teams take the field on Sunday, expect Toronto to clean things up defensively and find a rhythm at the plate. Look for the Blue Jays to respond in a big way and avoid the sweep, making them my best bet of the day.
