Maybe the most intriguing series of the weekend is the Toronto Blue Jays vs Los Angeles Dodgers. The Blue Jays are the best team in the AL right now, and they have been blistering hot for several weeks. The Dodgers are supposed to be the best team in baseball, based on the preseason hype, but they have been anything but sharp. The Jays just obliterated the Rockies in Denver by a combined score of 45-6. Will that lead to momentum in LA, or will regression hit hard? I see this game as being very much a coin toss, but we have a Dodger effect baked heavily into these numbers (where tons of public money always comes in on the Dodgers, no matter the circumstances), so I love that we can get the Blue Jays at plus money. If that is going to happen all weekend, I’m probably living here. Give me Toronto on the money line at the current price of +120.

Max Scherzer and Clayton Kershaw will toe the rubber tonight. This is the fifth time they have faced each other, and the first time was in 2008. The expected pitchers that night were Randy Johnson and Greg Maddux, but both got scratched. Imagine being at the park to see two sure-fire Hall of Famers, both get scratched, you get mad, but end up seeing 2 future HOF pitchers anyway? (Shoutout to jomboy media for digging up that information). I don’t know what to expect from these guys on any given night — their range of outcomes is quite wide at this age — but Toronto hits lefties well, and they are just playing great baseball right now. The Dodgers still have all the name recognition, but there is something to be said for a team that is playing confidently and expects to win. I’ll cast my lot with the Jays on Friday.
