Game 4 of the ALDS featuring the Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Yankees is on Wednesday. The Yankees survived Tuesday with their backs against the wall, down 2-0 in the series, and down 6-1 in the early innings. Led by Aaron Judge, the offense exploded to win the game, 9-6, and give the Yankees a chance in the series. On Wednesday, they will send rookie Cam Schlitter to the mound, a week after he obliterated the Red Sox with 8 innings of scoreless baseball and a record 12 Ks. I would imagine the entire betting world will be on the Yankees to win, and I would be too, except that that price is going to bottom out to the point that it isn’t worth the play. Instead, I am looking to pivot to the game total and target the over.

Usually in the playoffs, I prefer the under, as managers will pull any pitcher at the first sign of trouble. But this series has been over the game total in all 3 games, and that has especially been fueled by the Blue Jays and their 29 runs in the series thus far. Schlitter was a good story, but can we bank on a rookie to follow a record-setting performance with another solid start? He threw 107 pitches, and that is always worrisome this late in the year with young arms. The Blue Jays are using a bullpen game in some fashion, and that too is worrisome, especially given how many arms had to throw on Tuesday. These teams have seen every arm the other bullpen has to offer, and the hitters should certainly have the advantage. The wind is blowing out in the Bronx, and the energy level will be high. I am looking for another high-scoring game in this AL East clash.
