The Mariners needed to win 1 of 2 in Toronto to flip home-field advantage, but they just went ahead and won both anyway. That, despite all the clamour about an overworked bullpen, no starters available, yada yada yada. Now, they are up 2-0, returning home, and have their #1 pitcher on the mound, fully rested. I am hammering the heck out of Seattle to win Game 3.

The Blue Jays are counting on Shane Bieber to stop the bleeding. Lots of early bettors are siding with the Blue Jays, and probably lots are backing Bieber on name recognition, but this is not the same guy who won a Cy Young a couple years ago. Bieber missed most of the season due to injury, and he has made only a handful of starts. If you are into metrics, in that span, he ranked near the bottom of things like hard-hit rate, barrel rate, exit velocity, fielding-independent pitching metrics, and so on. He just got shelled by the Yankees, and if he gets chased early again (which is likely), the Toronto bullpen is not a strength, and they have already been exposed to the Mariners a ton in the first two games. You are telling me that I can bet against Bieber and the Toronto bullpen, while taking a fully-rested George Kirby and the Seattle bullpen, at home? I’ll take those odds. I fully believe that the Mariners are about to make their first trip to the World Series in franchise history, and they are not going to slip up here.
