Blue Jays vs Mariners Pickswise Expert Predictions
After falling behind 2-0 in the series, the Toronto Blue Jays quickly turned things around and evened things up at 2-2. Despite a slow start to the series, Toronto’s offense has exploded, outscoring the Mariners 21-6 over the last 2 games. The Blue Jays are very disciplined at the plate; they don’t swing and miss a lot. In fact, they have a 21.6% whiff rate, which is the lowest in the majors this season.
Taking the mound for the Blue Jays today will be Kevin Gausman, who took the loss in Game 1 after allowing 2 runs on 3 hits over 5.2 innings. For the Mariners, Bryce Miller will get the nod as they look to secure a win on their home turf and retake the series lead. Miller was sharp in Game 1, throwing 6 innings and giving up just 1 run on 2 hits. While both pitchers performed well in the series opener, this is a completely different Blue Jays offense we’re seeing right now. Miller struggled at times during the regular season, posting a 5.68 ERA, and despite his solid postseason numbers, some regression feels likely. With that in mind, I’m learning toward the over in this matchup. Both starters have been known to surrender their share of runs this season, and with Toronto’s bats heating up, I expect enough offense on both slides to push this game over.
