New York currently holds a 0.5 game lead in the AL Wild Card standings and will be looking to build off of last night’s momentum. Taking the mound for New York will be Cameron Schlittler who enters with a 1-2 record and 3.22 ERA. For the Nationals, Brad Lord will get the nod who enters with a 4-6 record and 3.46 ERA. 

The Yankees are averaging 5.5 runs per game in their last 10 where the Nationals are slightly behind at 4.2 runs per game. Both pitchers have been pitching well, but New York is a heavy favorite in this matchup, which is kind of hard to trust given how inconsistent they have been in the second half of this season. Schlittler holds a 4.12 home ERA this season, while Lord has a 2.54 ERA on the road. At the end of the day, if the Yankees can hit homers, they’ll most likely win this game. However, Lord has given up just eight home runs all season, which makes me think home runs will be tough to come by for New York, and for that reason, I think the Nationals can keep this game close.
