Nationals vs Yankees Pickswise Expert Predictions
It is getaway day, and the first game on the Wednesday slate is the Washington Nationals vs the New York Yankees. The Yankees have controlled this series so far with two decisive wins, and they send their most reliable pitcher to the mound on Wednesday. This game sure seems like a clear Yankees win; of course, paying the freight for that Money Line is hardly worth it. Instead, I think our better investment is on the game total under 8.5 in a game that has more than one good pitcher involved.
Cade Cavalli has been great since making the move to the Big League rotation. The long-running prospect has battled injuries that have stymied his rise, but now that he is here, he is making the most of it. Two of his 4 starts thus far have been shutouts, and he is missing a lot of bats and drawing weak contact. If he can give the Nats 5 or 6 innings in that trajectory, we should be in great shape. Max Fried had a rough couple of weeks, but he bounced back in his last outing, and he shouldn’t have much trouble with the Nats, especially since he will have the platoon advantage over the best bats in that lineup. Bullpens are always a wildcard, but I like the chances of this game staying under the total. I’ll play it that way.
Nationals vs Yankees prediction: Under 8.5 (-105) available at time of publishing. Playable at that number.
