Nationals vs Phillies Pickswise Expert Predictions

Money Line Pick
WAS Nationals Win(+145)

The Nationals deserve a bit more credit here. Washington started off their season 2-1 with a win over the Chicago Cubs in their opening series. This is no small accomplishment. The Nats did this taking down the Cubbies with their ace Matthew Boyd on the hill for Opening Day and finished off with a rubber game win against Shota Imanaga. The duo of Imanaga and Boyd combined for 23 wins in 2025 and an ERA that hovered in the mid threes. Yet, the Nationals got to them both and compiled 16 runs in their two wins against Chicago.

Philadelphia enters in a different state. They won the NL East in 2025 and dominated the Nationals throughout. The market is expecting things to normalize, but that’s not how I see it. What I see is an improving Washington team well off the market’s radar, because the market is used to the Nationals being the powderpuff of the division. Taijuan Walker takes the ball for the Phils and he has become more of a name than a threat, regressing mightily in 2025 with a 5-8 record, over-4 ERA, and a WHIP that sat at 1.41. What the market sees is bounce back opportunity after yesterday’s loss to the Rangers, but in reality its another opportunity to catch a plucky underdog at a great price poised to earn another result. Give me the Nats.
